Head Start

Martin County Head start is a social and educational program for preschool children and their parents. Head start is a federally funded program for low income families. For a student to be eligible they must be the age of three or four years by October first of that school year.

In Martin county there are eight Head Start classrooms located at Eden and Warfield elementary schools. Classes take place from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

Martin County Head Start not only offers educational services for preschooler, but also their parents. Head Start offers many different parenting trainings throughout the year as well as assisting with GED classes.

Martin County Health Department

The Martin County Health Department offers a wide variety of free or low cost health services to the public. These services range from preventative health services to environmental investigation. The Health Department has no age or income qualifications, however charges may be required based on family income and size.

This coming school year the Martin County Health Department will being to implement and School Nurse Clinic at Warfield Elementary with the hopes that it will eventually encompass all Martin County schools.

Martin County Home Health

Started in 1968, Martin County Home Health has been providing a vital service to the community for 39 years. For eligible Medicaid patients there is a community based waiver available. Martin County Home Health maintains a staff of registered nurses, certified nurse aids as well as physical and occupational therapists.

Martin County Home Health maintains many certifications. Being recognized as both Joint Commission Accredited and Medicaid Certified, patients can be ensured that they are receiving top quality health care.

Martin County Extension Office

The Martin County Extension Office part of the University of Kentucky’s and Kentucky State University’s off-campus information network. The Extension office looks to connect rural communities to UK, KSU and the world. The Extension office delivers information, education and solutions in hopes to grow better communities, stronger local economies, and healthier lives. The Martin County Extension Office is separated into three parts, all of which run by their own Agent.

4-H and Youth Development

The 4-H program encourages anyone from ages 9-19 to be active and get involved. It challenges them to learn how to make decisions, to learn valuable life skills, to be a caring member of society, and to live a healthy life.

Agriculture and Natural Resources

Through the Agriculture and Natural Resources department the extension office provide informal education in agricultural production and environmental stewardship. They coordinate and provide educational programs for the public through meetings and workshops, field days, personal communication, and web or satellite broadcasts. Agents also provide publications, newsletters and computer programs, videos, and other educational materials.

Family and Consumer Sciences

Family and Consumer Sciences Extensions improve the quality of individual and family life through education, research, and outreach. This multidisciplinary field focuses on building assets of individuals and families to address the perennial problems faced across the lifespan. This division of the extension office strives to enable individuals and families to develop the capacity for strengthening families and building communities for an ever-changing society.

Martin County Senior Citizens Center

Inez Rotary Club

Rotary club members are part of a diverse group of professional leaders working to address various community and international service needs. Through community service and other means, Rotary club members help promote peace and understanding throughout the world. Our members are our most important asset. They are the force that allows Rotary to carry out its many humanitarian efforts and achieve its mission.

Crescent Lodge #672 F. & A.M. was chartered October 17, 1894. On October 24, 1924 the name was changed to Marion Hale Lodge #672, F. & A.M. honoring William Marion Hale who was very active in Masonry. They met in the I. O. O. F. Hall on the second floor of the store erected by Dempsey, Crum and Cassady, which was called The Big Store which was the largest building on the Big Sandy River. The lodge has been in the present location at 156 Main Street since the mid 1960’s.

Marion Hale Lodge #672 accepts petition for the degrees on men 21 years of age or older in good report and recommended by two members of the lodge and presented to the lodge members for approval. We meet the first Saturday of each month at 7:00pm for our regular business meetings.

Marion Hale Lodge #672 started “Coats for Kids at Christmas” about 15 years ago with support from Inez Chapter #389 Order of the Eastern Star, Warfield Lodge #882, Martin County Shrine Club, Martiki and Excel Mining, Martin County Social Services Employees. Also, others in the area make donations of time and money. We also help support Safe Houses at Halloween, flood relief, relay for life, fruit baskets at Christmas for Masonic Widows and Masonic Homes of Kentucky and other projects in the area.

Kiwanis Club

Kiwanis, through guidance and example, works to develop future generations of leaders. Every day, Kiwanians are revitalizing neighborhoods, organizing youth-sports programs, planting trees, building playgrounds, and performing countless other projects to help children and communities.”

Festivals in Inez

Harvest Festival

On the second Saturday of every October the local Kiwanis Club organizes the Harvest Festival. With a line up of local performers and several carnival type attractions, the Harvest Festival is always fun for the whole family.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Each year the City Commission in Partnership with Mitchell Williamson and the City Police Department hosts an Easter Egg Hunt at the Sheldon Clark Football Field. This povides a wonderful opportunity for children to have fun in a nice safe environment. The Easter Bunny never fails to make an appearence. The Commission plans on continuing events such as this to promote city unity.

Walking Trail

Running from Inez First Baptist Church to the public library, the Inez walking trail is a scenic path near downtown Inez. The trail, benches and trash receptacles are all maintained by the City of Inez.

Court House Pavilion

Located behind the old courthouse the Pavilion is a stage built to be used by the community. During community festivals and activities the pavilion is used for concerts and similar events.

Martin County Fair

The annual Martin County Fair is always community favorite. With carnival games, rides, and entertainment there is something for every member of the family.
